This year I have taken a new position with Manaiakalani as their Secondary Specialist. There are currently 14 high schools in Manaiakalani that are spread right across the country. Our high schools are pathway schools for many of the primary and intermediate schools that have also partnered with Manaiakalani. There is strong evidence to suggest that students who have attended Manaiakalani primary schools who then go on to Manaiakalani high schools are more successful in attaining NCEA Level 2. The graph below shows the variance from back in 2016.
My inquiry this year is to investigate how to support and strengthen the implementation of the Manaiakalani Programme in current and newly partnered high schools including whare Kura and special schools.
During term one and term two of 2021, I am making my way around the country to meet with principals and deputy principals to find out what the Manaiakalani programme looks like in their school. There are some emerging themes of commonality but there is also a collective diversity of educators responding to their communities and learners using Manaiakalani's Learn, Create, Share pedagogy.
